STARGAZING WITH SNUGGLES:
KEEPING YOUR PET SAFE WHILE YOU CHASE
CONSTELLATIONS
Here’s how to make your furry companion feel cozy and safe while
you’re chasing constellations:
1Pet-Friendly Stargazing Prep
1. Choose a Calm Location
Pick a quiet spot away from loud traffic or crowds.
Avoid areas with wildlife that might spook your pet.
2. Bring Familiar Comforts
Pack their favorite blanket, bed, or toy to help them feel secure.
A collapsible crate or pet tent can offer a cozy retreat if they get overwhelmed.
3. Mind the Temperature
Florida nights can be warm, but bring water and cooling pads if it’s humid.
For cooler evenings, a pet sweater or heated pad might be appreciated.
4. Keep Them Leashed or Contained
Even well-trained pets can get curious or startled in the dark.
Use a harness and leash, or a secure playpen if you’re staying in one spot.
5. Bug Protection
Mosquitoes love Florida nights—use pet-safe repellents or protective clothing.
Avoid citronella candles, which can be toxic to pets.
6. Snacks & Hydration
Bring treats and fresh water to keep them happy and hydrated.
A chew toy or puzzle feeder can keep them entertained while you gaze skyward.
7. Ease Into the Darkness
Let your pet adjust to the dim light gradually.
Use red-light flashlights—they’re gentle on eyes and won’t disturb your stargazing.
8. Watch Their Body Language
If they seem anxious or restless, it might be time to wrap up.
Some pets love the adventure, others prefer the couch—and that’s okay.
