February in Florida carries a gentle kind of magic, the kind that invites you
to step outside and savor every sun‑washed moment, from the rolling
pastures of Ocala to the quiet historical corners of the state. It’s the perfect
month to wander through the legendary Gypsy Vanner horses of Ocala,
where their flowing manes and calm, soulful eyes make you feel like
you’ve stepped into a living fairytale. Just a short drive away, the Canyons
Zip Line & Adventure Park adds a burst of adrenaline to the season,
sending you soaring over cliffs, lakes, and forest canopies that glow gold in
the winter light.
February also feels made for family days, like taking the kids to the Bell Family Farm in Polk
County, where baby goats, fluffy bunnies, and gentle cows turn an ordinary afternoon into a
memory that sticks. And then there’s Fort King National Historic Landmark, where the breeze
carries stories of Florida’s past, and walking the grounds feels like honoring every step that
came before us. As the month turns toward March, the spirit of World Wildlife Day on March 3
becomes a reminder to appreciate the creatures and wild spaces that make Florida feel alive.
For me, the most meaningful moment comes the very next day—March 4—My sister Lizzette’s
birthday. Even though she is no longer here, her presence threads through every adventure,
every quiet pause, every sunrise and sunset and memories that come through my life. Honoring
her during this season feels natural, as if the beauty of Florida in February rises up to meet the
love you still carry. In celebrating wildlife, family, history, and the simple joy of being outdoors,
my life creates a living tribute to her—a reminder that her day, her memory, and her light
continue to shape the way I move through the world.
