Make sculptures, art, or robots using items in
your recycling bin
Making art from trash is a favorite activity for
kids! Recycling or tossing those items into the
trash or recycling bin gives them a second
chance. You can repurpose items that would
normally be thrown away or recycled into art,
a sculpture, or a robot (or a monster, alien, or
anything you like). Make their creations
colorful and let them paint them. Don't forget
to display it proudly!
Make earth art
You can have so much fun creating art out of
natural materials. In addition, other people
will be delighted to see your artwork when
they come across it. To make a masterpiece
on the ground, you can use any natural
materials you find. Sand, shells, leaves,
flowers, petals, nuts, and sticks are a few of
the materials we enjoy using.
Take a hike
We enjoy hiking as one of our favorite outdoor activities.
As hikers, we are always reminded of just how
impressive nature can be by taking care of our beautiful
planet! Try taking an Earth Day celebration hike this
year, if you are able to get out of the city. Take along
some binoculars to enjoy some bird watching and a bag
for picking up trash/litter!
Build a fort
Make a fort with your family in the woods to
celebrate Earth Day! You can build a shelter from
materials you find on the ground. The best way to
avoid taking anything down is not to take anything
down alive! It's likely you'll find many options that
are no longer alive that have fallen to the ground
without help! In your fort, you can have a picnic,
read a book, or observe nature as you observe the
scenery.
